A Vibrant Tapestry of Youthful Enthusiasm

An Anti-Corruption Youth Engagement and Support (YES) Camp unfolded in the heart of Chattogram from 21 January to 23 January 2024, transforming the ordinary into an extraordinary celebration of youthful zeal. The air was charged with excitement, as 258 dynamic participants from 16 YES groups across districts, upazilas, and educational institutions gathered in a hotel. The Camp, organized by Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), promised an immersive experience, echoing the spirit of liberation and fostering a commitment to building a prosperous and well-governed Bangladesh.

Setting the Stage - 'Corruption, Poverty, Injustice: Thoughts of the Youths'

With the slogan echoing in the air, the YES Camp kicked off with an invigorating welcome speech by Ms. Ferhana Ferdous, Director of TIB’s Civic Engagement Division. The atmosphere crackled with anticipation, as the participants geared up for insightful discussions, motivational sessions, and a shared commitment to the fight against corruption. The stage was set for robust conversations and strategic brainstorming.

A Beacon of Wisdom - Dr. Iftekharuzzaman's Call to Action

A key highlight was the session titled 'Corruption, Poverty, Injustice and Anti-Corruption Social Movement: Role of Youths'. Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, TIB's Executive Director, urged the young generation to resist corruption for the nation's development. The vibrant exchange of ideas fueled a determination to tackle corruption head-on. Dr. Zaman emphasized the need for political will and activating institutional frameworks to curb corruption effectively.

Cultural Resonance - 'No More Silence' by BotTala

In a compelling display of cultural resonance, BotTala, a performance group, staged the play "No More Silence". The performance aimed to sensitize the participants on gender issues and violence against women. The auditorium buzzed with emotions as the play unfolded, leaving a lasting impact on the youth, instilling a deeper understanding of societal challenges.

The Power of Volunteering - 'Invincible Youths: Volunteerism, Ethics, and Leadership'

As the camp entered its final day, the discussion shifted to 'Invincible Youths: Volunteerism, Ethics, and Leadership'. The panel, featuring Director of TIB Ms. Ferhana Ferdous, Lecturer of Daffodil International University Engineer Zareen Tasneem Sharif, and Executive Director of Youth Alliance for Sustainable International Development Mr. Kaiser Hamid, encouraged the youth to engage in voluntary activities, unite, cooperate, build willpower, face challenges, and contribute to the fight against corruption from their unique positions.

The YES Camp concluded with open discussions, where the participants actively shared their views and committed to contributing to the anti-corruption social movement. The camp emerged not only as a platform for knowledge-sharing but also as a vibrant tapestry woven with the determination of tomorrow's leaders, ready to champion the cause of a corruption-free Bangladesh.
