Electronic waste (e-waste) is electrical and electronic equipment discarded by users due to lack of use or when it has reached the end of its usable life. It encompasses various electronic devices such as telecommunications and information technology equipment, large household items, lighting equipment, medical devices, monitoring and control devices, consumer electronics, electrical tools, sports and leisure equipment, toys, mobile phones, and computers. According to the Global E-Waste Monitor 2024, a record 62 billion kg of e-waste was generated globally in 2022, equivalent to an average of 7.8 kg per capita per year. E-waste moves through multi-party and multilayer distribution systems, making the management system highly complex. Recycling ewaste is crucial for recovering valuable materials and reducing the environmental and health impacts of improper disposal.
