The Human Rights Forum Bangladesh (HRFB) and Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) have prepared a policy brief containing specific observations and recommendations on the draft National Human Rights Commission Act, 2026. The brief identifies the controversial provisions that may hinder the independence of the Commission and, if retained, could result in a body that is subject to government control rather than a genuinely independent national human rights institution. It therefore recommends revising the draft law in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
