While the proposed ‘Prevention and Redress of Enforced Disappearance Act, 2026’ contains several positive provisions, it has serious shortcomings in ensuring independent and impartial investigation, accountability of those responsible, and the rights of victims and their families. To bring the bill in line with international conventions and good practice, TIB has reviewed the draft and put forward 17 recommendations for its amendment.
