Dhaka, 22 January 2026: Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) is profoundly saddened by the death of Mr. M. Hafizuddin Khan, former Chairperson of the TIB Board of Trustees and former Advisor to the Caretaker Government. His passing marks the end of an era for a distinguished public servant, former Comptroller and Auditor General, patriot, and above all, a fearless guardian of the anti-corruption social movement.
Mr. M. Hafizuddin Khan joined the Board of Trustees of TIB in December 2004. He served as the Treasurer from May 2006 to May 2009 and held the position of Chairperson of the Board from 1 June 2009 to 22 April 2011. Furthermore, Mr. Khan remained a member of the General Assembly of TIB until his death.
TIB in a statement issued today said, "Mr. M. Hafizuddin Khan made outstanding contributions toward strengthening the anti-corruption social movement and establishing good governance in Bangladesh. His thoughtful policy advice, opinions, and guidance in TIB’s activities have consistently inspired us. The contributions of Mr. Khan will be remembered by TIB with the highest respect."
In a statement issued on behalf of TIB’s Board, Management, General Assembly, and the Committees of Concerned Citizens (CCC), Youth Engagement and Support (YES), Active Citizens Group (ACG), and TIB members, prayers were offered for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Mr. M. Hafizuddin Khan. Deepest condolences were also conveyed to the bereaved members of his family.
