International Youth Day 2026

Resilient Youth for Climate Action and Sustainable Development

Published: 09 August 2026

CONCEPT NOTE

Youth are resilient, determined, and unstoppable. In recent years, we have witnessed the remarkable strength and potential of young people emerging across Bangladesh and several other countries in South Asia. Like many nations around the world, Bangladesh’s history of positive achievements and successes has been significantly shaped by the leadership, innovation, and dedication of its youth. This year, the United Nations has selected “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations” as the theme for International Youth Day 2026. The theme highlights the message that, despite geographical and social differences, all young people share a common aspiration and an equal right to a safe, inclusive, and equitable future.

Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) firmly believes that young people are one of the key driving forces behind the social movement against corruption and the promotion of good governance. As in previous years, TIB is observing International Youth Day with special importance through a range of activities at both national and local levels, involving members of CCCs, ACGs, YES, and other relevant stakeholders. As part of this initiative, and recognizing the country’s promising youth population as a critical force in addressing the impacts of climate change and achieving sustainable development, young stakeholders associated with TIB have put forward a number of recommendations in this concept note.
