Since its establishment, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has been implementing evidence-based advocacy and civic engagement initiatives to promote good governance and advance the anti-corruption movement. In this continuity, TIB has been conducting research and advocacy activities on governance in the sectors of environment, climate finance, power and energy, and renewable energy. There are various government initiatives as well as challenges in renewable energy generation in Bangladesh. TIB remains committed to working with relevant government institutions, development partners, and other stakeholders to create an enabling environment for ensuring good governance conducive to the rapid and effective expansion of the renewable energy sector. In particular, TIB has been working to strengthen public awareness and people’s participation, especially youth, as well as to enhance the capacity of relevant stakeholders, in order to reinforce the demand for increased renewable energy generation and relevant policy formulation.
Promoting and engaging youth in Bangladesh’s renewable energy transition particularly regarding policy clarity, setting specific targets, implementation prospects, and the diverse challenges surrounding renewable energy production and use is one of the key priority areas of TIB. As part of this effort, and under the project "Promoting Good Governance and Integrity in the Energy Sector in Bangladesh," TIB has organized an Idea Contest to invite new and innovative proposals from the younger generation on expanding renewable energy and achieving the target of 100 percent renewable energy generation by 2050. The competition will be held in three phases.
