Making Waves

TIB's programme work is currently driven by the second phase of the National Integrity Programme (NIP)- Making Waves.

Making Waves is TIB's five-year nationwide programme with a strong emphasis on advocacy activities.  The programme entails:

  • Establishing a specific number of Committees of Concerned Citizens (CCCs) in selected areas in phases to act as core units of the plan
  • Supporting the CCCs through Advice and Information Centres (AICs), which would act as resource units for such activities.
  • Providing support to Advocacy and Campaign activities through documentation.
  • Undertake research.
  • Developing TIB as the primary organisation, which will support a movement to reduce corruption in the areas where TIB will operate and influence other areas to act positively against corruption through creation of an enabling environment.

Donors have agreed to fund Making Waves after a feasibility study.  On 2nd December, 2002, at a simple ceremony at the Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) office, Dhaka, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed for the phase two of the National Integrity Program (NIP) between TIB and four bilateral aid agencies (The UK Department for International Development, the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, the Danish International Development Agency and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency).

The first phase of the National Integrity Programme was funded by USAID.
