Advice and Information Center (AIC)

Closely related to the setting up of Committees of Concerned Citizens (CCCs) is the establishment of the AIC. The latest information regarding the extent, nature and location of corruption in Bangladesh will flow into this central clearing-house from the CCCs. The AIC was launched in June 2002 under NIP and is housed in the Mymensingh CCC office.

Objectives of the AIC

  1. Compile and manage information from the CCC throughout the country as well as obtain data from other sources such as newspapers and research,
  2. Supervise replication of the corruption surveys at specified time intervals continue to follow up on national progress in the fight against corruption.
  3. Administer the task of disseminating the information and advice to the public via quarterly newsletters, reports, academic papers, press releases and press conferences,
  4. Co-ordinating the findings of the 'report cards' generated by the CCC across geographic regions in order to foster competition for integrity throughout the country. It will collect information about the 'islands of integrity' which have been formed and then report those through appropriate media.
  5. Other long term objectives of the AIC would be to develop creative ways to compile and analyze data, such as formulating vulnerability index that measures the effect of corruption in different demographic groups. It would assist in publishing a corruption almanac that lists data in tables and charts, which can be used to make comparisons across the country and among nations.
