Anti-Corruption Youth Concert on
International Women's Day, 2008

To Mark the 100th International Women's Day, an Anti-Corruption Concert was organized on Saturday, March 8 at the Gulshan Youth Club ground, Dhaka. The slogan was "Jago Manush - Nari Odhikare Jago" (Stand up - for Women's Rights). Consistent with TIB's efforts to create and strengthen a gender-sensitive anti-corruption movement, the thematic basis this time was the relationship between anti-corruption movement and women's rights movement. Progress in women rights movement cannot be achieved and sustained without fighting corruption effectively, and vice versa.

Organized in collaboration with the ACC, the Concert featured prominent musicians of the country like Kangalini Sufia, Fahmida Nabi, Azam Khan, Mehreen, Krishnokali, Shahed and bands like Renaissance, Souls, Orthohin, Maksud O Dhaka, Dolchut, Black, Yaatri etc. Awaj a musical group of garment workers and a musical team from the Acid Survivors Foundation also performed. Eminent citizens including Chairman of ACC and TIB made special appearance to express solidarity with young audience and inspire them to stand up against corruption. TI Chairperson Dr. Huguette Labelle sent a special message on this occasion and declared solidarity with the 35,000 youngsters present at the ground.
