World Theatre Day 2012

TIB's two-day Folk Theatre Festival on World Theatre Day 2012
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) arranged a two-day festival, featuring indigenous theatre forms, which ended on 28 March at the amphitheatre in Suhrawardi Udyan. The theme of this anti-corruption campaign through festival was My culture, My existence, We want transparency and good governance.
Several groups from different parts of the country took part in the festival.
Veteran theatre personality Ataur Rahman and jatra artistes Jotsna Biswas were the guests on the inauguration of the festival.
Manabadhikar Natya Parishad from Kishorganj performed Jari Gaan. Manipuri Theatre (Kamolganj, Maulvibazar) and Desh Opera (Dhaka) respectively staged the play “Shri Krishna Kirtan” and jatrapala “Shadhin Sultan Ilias Shah” performed in the first day.
On the second day, Mahadev Shongjatra Dol (Tangail), Marma Shilpi Gosthi (Bandarban) and Dhaka Yes Natyadal staged ritualistic performances.
