As part of its Youth Engagement and Support (YES) programme TIB organizes Anti-Corruption Cartoon Competition to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day on 9 December. The objective of the competition and this exhibition is to create greater awareness and motivation among the young generation to SAY NO TO CORRUPTION. It also gives the participants an opportunity to communicate their understanding about corruption and raising voice against this menace.
This Exhibition of Cartoon Against Corruption consists of cartoons which have received awards and special mention in two age groups of 13-18 and 19-35 years.
TIB organized the first anti-corruption cartoon competition and exhibition in 2006. A total of 316 entries were received from 150 young cartoonists. The large participation manifested the fact that there was not only a demand for it but also a commitment which kept on increasing in the following years. In 2007, number of entries rose to 747 and in 2008 it reached almost 800.

Cartoon Competition & Exhibition 2008
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) organized its third Anti-Corruption Cartoon Competition to observe the International Anti-Corruption Day 2008 (9 December). As a part of TIB?s Youth Engagement and Support (YES) programme, the objective of the competition and this exhibition is to create greater awareness and motivation among the young generation to say NO TO CORRUPTION. It also gives the participants an opportunity to communicate their understanding of corruption and raising voice against this menace. This Exhibition of Cartoon Against Corruption displays cartoons which have received awards and special mention out of 791 entries to the competition by young cartoonists in two age groups of 13-18 and 19-35 years from all over the country.The opening ceremony of the exhibition of ?Cartoon Against Corruption?, organized by TIB will take place at Drik Gallery on Friday, November 28, 2008 at 4:00pm. The opening ceremony will be preceded by distribution of prizes to young cartoonists who have received award and special mention in the Anti- Corruption Cartoon Competition organized to observe the International Anti- Corruption Day. Lt. General Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury (Retd.), Chairman, Anti-Corruption Commission will inaugurate the exhibition as Chief Guest. Mustafa Monwar and Prof. Rafiqun Nabi will be present as Special Guests. Advocate Sultana Kamal, former Advisor to the Caretaker Government will preside. The exhibition will remain open for all till December 4, 2008, everyday from 3pm to 8pm.

| national dailies were included in this compilation. In a discussion seminar titled ?cartoon for public awareness? organized by TIB on the occasion of launching this book speakers asserted that cartoon is acting as a catalyst in the present anticorruption drive. They have depicted the irregularities and injustice in the society and were able to create a deep impression in the mind of the people. In this discussion the main article was presented by cartoonist Shariar Khan. |
